Information for Submitting Questions

The Officers and Directors of the ABCP strongly encourage and welcome the submission of potential PBSE and CAPE certification exam questions from all members of the perfusion community. All question items must be in standard format and in compliance with the ABCP guidelines for examination development. In addition, all questions MUST be supported by at least two references (textbooks or peer reviewed journals) in order to be eligible for consideration.

While the ABCP appreciates all submissions—due to examination security—the acceptance or rejection of any item cannot be revealed to the original author. All submissions will become the sole property of the ABCP.

The form for submitting questions to the ABCP is available in MS Word format by clicking here. The completed form should be sent as an email attachment to abcp@abcp.org.

The ABCP, on behalf of all CCPs, thanks you for your input and your efforts to help improve the certification process.

GUIDELINES FOR DEVELOPING EXAMINATION QUESTIONS

  1. A multiple choice question includes a clearly stated problem (the stem) and four plausible alternatives (one correct response and three incorrect distractors).
  2. The stem should be meaningful by itself and should be relevant to current perfusion techniques.
  3. Only one response should be correct and the remaining three distractors should be plausible.
  4. Each question should be fully-referenced with two up-to-date academic resources (within 10 years).
  5. The question should be typed on the form with correct spelling and grammar.
  6. "All of the above" and "none of the above" as responses are discouraged.
